The Most Inspiring Day of My life? Possibly! Here's What I learned at INC Women's Summit 2017

Oh hello my fellow boss babes! If you're looking for a dose of motivation, a little fire under your bum, or just a late night read about some incredible female entrepreneurs then you're in the right place. Last week I was invited to attend Inc Women's Summit 2017 with Genesis USA and let's just say it was possibly one of the most inspiring days of my life. To be sitting under the same roof as the founder of Spanx, co-founder of AWAY, co-founder of RTR, and CEO of Bluemercury is amazing enough but to be able to learn their stories, understand their struggles, and ASK them qs about how they overcame diversity in a male dominated space... my day, week, and month was made. Keep reading to see my favorite sound bites, boss babe book suggestions, and two themes that were constantly touched on throughout the day.

Some of my favorite soundbites from the day:

Life is short. Don't just build a business build a life.

- Angela Benton, founder and CEO, NewMe Accelerator

Feeling down or unmotivated? Reflect on all the things you've accomplished!

- Polina Raygorodskaya, Founder of Wanderu

What you don't know may be your best asset if you let it!

- Sara Blakely, Founder of Spanx

You can't be afraid to speak up for what you want and what you know; you're the closest to your business.

- Marla Beck, Bluemercury Co-Founder

What are you chasing? How are you investing your time? Use it to help you prioritize what matters.

- Angela Benton, founder and CEO, NewMe Accelerator

Those are just a few of the takeaways that came out of a day's worth of panels. In listening to these amazing women speak about their business success stories, there were two commonalities among all of them: imposter syndrome and manifestation.

At some point (and most would say they still do) they all battled self doubt, comparison... not feeling worthy or knowledgeable enough to be in the position they were in. This is something I really connected with because I feel it ALL the time. I felt comfort in knowing that they did too, but also kind of bummed that the feeling will most likely never fully dissipate no matter how successful I become. In my IG live interview with Sara Blakely she said she credits audio lectures by Wayne Dyer to always pick her up when she's down and it's what motivated her since the age of 16 to start her business. Another tip by Polina Raygorodskaya, which I mentioned above, is to reflect on things you've accomplished instead of things you haven't achieved yet. I LOVE that one! Because, you guys, we've all accomplished so much in our lives and should be SO proud.

The second theme throughout, manifestation, is something I've been practicing for 3+ years now. It was amazing to hear how the power of manifestation has helped Founders and CEOs get to where they are today. I've shared my favorite books via Jen Sincero a few times over the past couple years and I cannot recommend them enough for a real gals take on manifesting. Another book suggestion from that day came from Alexa von Tobel, founder and CEO, LearnVest.com - she said everyone should read The Inevitable by Kevin Kelly. While it's not about manifestation, it's about the future of technology and how we should start to think about our future in this world and how that will shape business. Yup, downloading now!

You guys, I could write forever about this day. Did I mention Kevin O'Leary "Mr. Wonderful" from Shark Tank was there? He sure tells it like it is! I have copious notes from him and others about fundraising for your business, tips on where to start and how to go about it. If you are at all interested in these leave me a comment below and I can do a part two. They're very start-up oriented takeaways but OH SO good!

Thank you Genesis for inviting me to this incredible event. You best believe I was sitting there manifesting myself and my fellow boss babes on that stage in 2020!
