We're Moving to Miami...

For a few months 😉 I turned to Andy back in June and said “I have to get on a plane or I am going to lose it.” I’ve written a lot about how travel fuels my soul (see this post from 2017). So yeah, Miami here we come!

Why Miami?

It’s Andy’s hometown! Luna will be able to spend quality time with her grandparents, I will get to bask in glorious Miami fall weather: 80 degrees and sunny, and Andy will live his best golfing life. You know I’ve been pushing for a real Miami move for years but TBH this is probably the closest we will ever get to that.

We had talked about a long-term Europe stay but decided to test the waters with Miami first, especially since Luna has never been on a plane before. (Send all your positive toddler plane vibes please!) I think about all the years I have been dreaming of living abroad and traveling for months on end and we finally have the opportunity to do it since Andy’s job is 100% remote. There is no time like the present! Traveling abroad with a toddler is going to be a little more adventurous but I am so excited for what the future holds for our family.

Tips on Short Term Moves, Please!

At the moment I don’t have many tips except for some logistical things:

  • We found shipping our car from LA to Miami (and back!) was cheaper than renting, even on apps like TURO. Plus we can pack it with a bunch of Luna’s gear including her carseat which is a huge bonus. Our car is en-route and as soon as it is delivered I’ll let you know the company we used - can’t vouch for them yet!

  • AIRBNBs in the US are insanely priced right now BUT there are discounts to be had with long term rentals. Even the places we are looking at abroad for Spring 2022 have 18-20% off discounts for month long rentals.

I’ll be sure to update this post with insights and packing lists as we adventure. Also cannot wait to bring you an updated Miami Travel Guide. Here’s to living the life you’ve always wanted and not being afraid to JUST GO! xo - Ash
