7 Things I Learned as a First Timer at Splash House
Since I'm forever in pursuit of never growing up
(case in point), I somehow ended up at
Splash House over the weekend and let's just say it was magical. Much like
Coachella I had no expectations going in and I have to say I would pick Splash House over Coachella any day. In case you're already planning next year's desert activities, here are the 7 things I learned over the weekend:
1.
Two words: waterproof case. Selfies and water don't mix unless you have a
lifeproof iPhone case. And believe me, you're going to want to capture every moment. I was super hesitant at first and never planned to fully submerge my phone until someone hit my hand and my phone fell to the bottom of the pool. Even though I had a minor heart attack, I retrieved my phone and it was perfectly fine. Awesome water shots ensued!
2.
Bros. Or as we called it #balconiesofbros. There may have been
more pool floaties than people but there were definitely more bros than girls. Remember that my single friends. Speaking of floaties, bring them but don't get too attached because they definitely won't be in your possession by the end of the day.
3.
The Saguaro =
THE hotel to be at for Splash House. It was pretty much made for weekends like this and definitely doesn't compare to the other two hotels involved in the Splash House circuit -remember that if you're booking hotel accommodations. Don't forget to get a pool facing room, too!
4.
Pee in the Pool. No, YOU don't pee in the pool but everyone else does, so deal with it. Oh and wash your hair every night!
5.
Pools > festival grounds. When it's 100+ degrees out, I'd rather play in the pool all day then trek through the desert. #justsaying
6.
No sleep until Monday. No joke, there's music going on 24/7 whether it's at the pool, after party, or coming from someone's room. Even if you wanted to sleep it's pretty much impossible.
7.
Hydrate + Protect. This is when my "age" comes out: as long as you remember to drink water and wear sunscreen all will be fabulous. I brought
Clinique's new sunscreen that supposedly only needs to be applied one time and it totally worked!
Until next year Splash House!
Oooh PS: have you guys heard of
Ditto? It's basically the answer to unlimited sunnies! For $19/mo you can swap out for unlimited designer sunnies like the
Illesteva ones I'm wearing. Honestly, it's genius. I have my eyes on these
Prada babies next. Anywho, if you use code PURSUITOFSHOES you can get your first month free and test it out!!
