File under things I’d never thought I’d say: my newborn has a better closet than I do! Last month The Container Store came in to build out Luna’s custom ELFA Décor Closet and it turned out amazing. Her closet is actually pretty spacious for a non-walk-in but the original lay out was not utilizing the space well: it just had one bar running through and a shelf. The entire bottom half was open and was constantly a mess plus we were underutilizing the many FEET of space above the shelf. Enter the amazing ELFA Décor design process:
We used the Container Store’s Virtual In-Home Design service to design the space and it was honestly SO easy. I sent in my measurements and specific requests for color and within hours had a design ready to go. I was a little nervous about my measuring skills but everything turned out perfect. With the new design there is SO much room to grow. We couldn’t even fill all the shelves or racks. There’s enough rack space for all of Luna’s baby clothes and jackets, drawers for diapers and baby accessories, and shelves for storage and shoes. We were even able to fit her large stroller rumble seat in the bottom left corner! I love that we are able to utilize every corner of the space. Plus with the ELFA Décor frame work we can move things around as Luna gets older and our needs change.
The ELFA Décor closet space was $1,987. It is technically DIY friendly, so customers can purchase the components and easily install it themselves BUT handy work is NOT my forte. We opted for them to come install everything and it was totally worth it. It took the ELFA Décor Install professional no longer than two hours to demo the existing closet rack and shelves, patch and paint and then install everything! SO IMPRESSIVE. The demo, patch, paint and install was $496. All in under $2,500!
Given the times, I should note that I was also very pleased with their COVID procedures. All of our product was delivered with no contact to our door step the day before the install. The Container Store sent us a note that all install professionals report their temperature every morning and work efficiently with a mask on during their entire visit to the house which they did. I have absolutely no apprehension about letting them in again for another closet demo!
