Bungalow Housewarming

The Bungalow is slowwwwly coming together. No, seriously, I moved in 6 months ago and finally had a girl's housewarming party last weekend. Let's just say decorating by yourself, on a budget takes a little time... you get it.

It was a cool 91 degrees last Sunday so I opted for cold beverages and apps. Decor was simple with some gorgeous seasonal flowers, faux pumpkins and a bit of raffia. Raffia is a game changer on everything, btw. Here are a few snaps + recipes / food choices that work for any budget and schedule...
{sugar.paper coasters}

Trader Joe's has become my go to, even for flowers. Grab a big bundle, take it apart and re-assort to create great little floral vases. Mason jars are my vase vaahzz of choice.

As for food, I was a little strapped for time so I went with a mix of pre-done apps and diy:
{avocado toast}
- ingredients: 2 avocados // trader joes brioche toasts // cherry tomatoes // garlic powder // salt & pepper -
- directions: mash avocado with a few dashes of garlic powder // add chopped tomatoes // top off with salt & pepper // serves 6-10 -

Talk about super simple and delicious. Also a great option for vegetarians!
{meats & cheeses}
What's a party without a little meat and cheese spread? Left it to good 'ol TJs for this sampler. I also had a tray of fruits and crackers.
{caprese skewers}
- ingredients: cherry tomatoes // mozzarella balls // basil // balsamic vinegar // salt & pepper // toothpicks -
- directions: cut tomatoes in half and place on either end of mozzarella ball, adding basil to one side // top with balsamic and salt & pepper -
{side salads}

I finally knew it was housewarming time when I got my gallery wall up. Everyone loved it!
If you're planning something similar and concerned with drilling holes in the wall, I highly suggest Scotch's multi-purpose fasteners; easy to apply and very stable. More Bungalow shots coming soon in my Career Contessa feature!
