NYE in Velvet

UPDATE - this dress is currently sold out but here are some fab velvet alternatives:

My mind is blown that we're talking about NYE but it's literally around the corner! This year for New Years I'm going to be on our annual family cruise and I'm puuummpped. We've celebrated NYE on cruise ships for many years - there's balloon drops, champagne waterfalls, all the things- it's a blast and a great excuse to get all glammed up. Since we're leaving on Saturday I couldn't procrastinate on getting a dress, so when ASOS reached out about shopping the ASOS party dress section, of course, I said yes!

This year I wanted to go a different route, no sequins or lace, that when I landed on this velvet number I knew it was the one:

I just die for it! No joke, I had a serious pursuing party dresses moment - originally it was only available in size 4 and 6 and I'm typically a size 0. Since I knew I couldn't wait, I ordered in size 4 and figured I could get it tailored. A few days later my friend told me that new sizes were popping up and tah-dah, a size 0 became available.  It was a NYE sign!  Speaking of, if you're set on this dress definitely check back every few hours because new sizes are being re-stocked! PS: it fits true to size.

Velvet is definitely having a moment right now, but can sometimes be tough to pull off. This dress resonated with me because of the gorgeous oxblood color and origami details; both give off super luxe vibes.

After the dress came the pursuit of party shoes. Of course, I probably could've pulled something from my closet but hey, it's NYE #treatyoself.  These hanoi heels aren't typically my style, but lately I've been loving chunkier heels and the details on these beauties are perfection! Instead of sparkle on the dress, why not add a little sparkle on the heel?

I hope you all are enjoying this week (hopefully not working)! More NYE looks coming over the next 5 days, so stay tuned.
